Isthmus of Ando — Hyōgo Prefectural Museum of Art

The whole of it emerges from a cavern deep in the earth. 

It spirals upwards, warped concrete ascending into diffuse light. Up there is an illuminated path, an isthmus 

of black walls, timeless, bridging water and mountain.
